I'm currently working on a game. It's a small crack I stumbled across by accident. By adding a couple phrases on the end of the URL to play the game, I got a download of the Shockwave Flash (.SWF) and the levels file, in the form of a text (.TXT) file. The game wouldn't run. I tried to get it to work and I figured out. I changed the level file from HTML mode to Unicode mode. The game now worked! The levels are a series of ASCII characters with simple code to go along with it. It's a flash game so I don't need to worry about the ActionScript file since it's automatically coded into the SWF file. Unicode is the same type of code as emojis. I can now edit the game and make levels. The way it works, is that the game reads the unicode and loads in the assets stored in the SWF file, making my life a lot easier. It's very powerful and intuitive to use, but it's a lot easier when you have a list of the asset IDs to consult since it's not visual and requires a lot of reading and trial and error to create good levels. It does have problems too; the lack of proper visuals and the unusual style of design makes it challenging to understand it sometimes and it's not applicable to other types of design like Java or even Illustrator. Luckily to make up for this, it's relatively easy to interpret entire levels. It does suffer at moving NPCs, even I don't really know how they work. It also doesn't tell you anything and it's all up to you to understand.
